Starter Spinning Wrong Way / I have heard of people hooking their batteries up the wrong way and actually reversing the polarity of the starter causing it to spin backwards.. On the way back i went to start the truck. On the brush plate all i see are three tabs apparently not for index and one angled tab. When i hit the starter button, the starter just spins with a whirling noise. On your cpu heatsink, which side is facing out? If the starter motor is spinning normally but not engaging with the engine then it will be one of two things.
If you hear a little sputter when trying to start it can't be spinning the wrong way. Do you hear a series of clicks? I went to start again and the starter motor appeared to be no longer engaging. I could be wrong in my memory. Since you told me the part number off your fan, my sherlock holmes powers deduce that this means you can read the label and that the fan is.
The one way bearing seems to be working fine. The cylinder thing on the top of these starters is the solenoid. It is impossible for it to start spinning in the wrong direction. If you can spin it both ways it needs replacing. The chance of spinning seems random, it happens instantly when trying to start or after a few cranks of the engine. I have never had the starter apart, so i dont think it could magically start spinning the wrong way. Nothing else wrong, just the starter spins (clearly heard) without engaging anything. Probably the positive and negative connections have gotten reversed in the solinoid and starter motor.
Start date apr 24, 2010.
If the are are on the wrong posts, the starter will turn backwards causing it not. I have never had the starter apart, so i dont think it could magically start spinning the wrong way. I'm wondering if it is the shaft/or wrong shaft. I could be wrong in my memory. Had a new starter put on my 454 crusader engine mechanic put the wrong starter on it ran backwards it's temp is cool at idle but now over heats above 1500 rpm did not have any issues before that could that have. You hear it spinning with a click sound before it starts spinning. Started out as wanting to do a compression check, tried turning the wheels. The bendix can be cleaned the lazy way, soak it in a cup of gasoline overnight then spray some grease in the mechanism to lube it up, make sure to wipe any excess grease off it as you don't want it. The starter pinion is spring loaded in the disengaged position. It is impossible for it to start spinning in the wrong direction. Starter spins but doesn't engage. Would the starter spin backwards if the polarity of its connection was reversed, therefore spinning the motor the wrong way? As long as the starter motor is enabled, the spir.
Normally i would go watch the video to make sure i remember what i am telling people to do but frmo where i am, i can't do that so take what i say with a grain of salt. Why is that when i start my truck the starter gets stuck? Essentially, the starter does spin, which in turn spins the bigger gears, but the reaction is the so when you hold the starter button down, the gears just spin without the engine turning over due to wire lengths and bracket locations, the brushes can only go in one way. The solenoid engizes the bendix to throw the starter drive gear. Trust me, i know you can bolt them both one but the wrong application will cause the same exact symptoms to happen due to the m salignment of the starter drive.
When i hit the starter button, the starter just spins with a whirling noise. Trust me, i know you can bolt them both one but the wrong application will cause the same exact symptoms to happen due to the m salignment of the starter drive. The solenoid spins the starter but does not engage it, the bedix is what throws the starter gear out. The direction the starter is spinning, it is trying to turn the engine clockwise, if looking at the starter clutch from the left side of the engine. You hear it spinning with a click sound before it starts spinning. If the starter spins, but does not engage the flywheel, and the flywheel teeth are hell, maybe even whack that starter just once when it's spinning, just in case. So, in response to the trouble i replaced the battery, then the check to see if you have installed the battery cables on the battery posts correctly. I went to start again and the starter motor appeared to be no longer engaging.
So the alternator light and starter spinning are directly related somehow.
On your cpu heatsink, which side is facing out? When i tried to start it again, only loud spinning sound(not a clicking sound) from starter was heard but it doesn't crank the engine at all, only starter is why do people continue to run a vehicle when a warning light comes on or starts flashing? I was very careful to make. When turning the ignition, everything from the electronics system through the starter relay does an autozone starter test check the solenoid, or does it only check the spinning in the guts of the starter? Since you told me the part number off your fan, my sherlock holmes powers deduce that this means you can read the label and that the fan is. You hear it spinning with a click sound before it starts spinning. Starter keeps spinning after engine running. The one way bearing seems to be working fine. If so you have a problem with the flywheel teeth or starter gears not. Would the starter spin backwards if the polarity of its connection was reversed, therefore spinning the motor the wrong way? On the brush plate all i see are three tabs apparently not for index and one angled tab. Probably the positive and negative connections have gotten reversed in the solinoid and starter motor. It's also possible that the drive gear isn't kicking out all the way to engage the flex plate and is spinning against it. The mechanism to engage the flywheel is faulty, probably it is seized, or battery doesn't have enough power to make the solenoid fully pull the mechanism (check. So is it possible that i reversed the two large positive wires that goto the starter? It sounds like it spins or gas doesn't pass, but after three times, it there may be something wrong with the starter. When i tried to start it again, only loud spinning sound(not a clicking sound) from starter was heard but it doesn't crank the engine at all, only starter is why do people continue to run a vehicle when a warning light comes on or starts flashing?

I would check to see that the starter is receiving good voltage and isn't. I was very careful to make. The one way bearing seems to be working fine. Take out the starter.if it goes back together easily its not the right way round and polarity reversed so it spins backwards. Btw, i am wrong about direct to ignition. I have heard of people hooking their batteries up the wrong way and actually reversing the polarity of the starter causing it to spin backwards. Trust me, i know you can bolt them both one but the wrong application will cause the same exact symptoms to happen due to the m salignment of the starter drive.
If the starter motor spins rather normally, something's wrong with the fuel injection or ignition coils.
I would check to see that the starter is receiving good voltage and isn't. I recently purchased an upgrade for my dads computer, and i found that when i turn it on the cpu fan spins the wrong way! The cylinder thing on the top of these starters is the solenoid. You say your starter is kicking in.is it spinning and not turning the engine over? I have never had the starter apart, so i dont think it could magically start spinning the wrong way. So, in response to the trouble i replaced the battery, then the check to see if you have installed the battery cables on the battery posts correctly. My crafstman lt1000 tractor's starter will spin but will not engage flywheel. Im certainly no mechanic so it might not even be possible. If you hear a little sputter when trying to start it can't be spinning the wrong way.
